In this meeting we outlined membership requirements, explained the concept of service hours, gave a website tour, and introduced our GroupMe, where we communicate all information. Note that some information may be outdated as this meeting was from the 22-23 school year.
How do I report my service hours?
Go to the "Tracking Your Hours" tab, click on the "Report Your Service Hours Here" button, and fill out the form. It's imperative to include a pic of you volunteering as proof or we can't count the hours!
When I click on a google form/sheet, I get an error message that I "need permission" to access it. What do I do?
You receive this error message when you aren't logged in with your CPS google account. Sign in with your student email and it should be fixed.
How can I see how many hours I've completed so far?
Go to the "Tracking Your Hours" tab, click on the "NHS Hour Lookup 22-23" button, and input your student number in the spreadsheet.
What should my picture of volunteering look like?
You can take a selfie of yourself at the location where the background shows what you're doing. Another option would be to have a friend take a picture of you volunteering, or a picture of you at the location (in front of the foodbank sign etc).
What if I forgot to take a picture of myself volunteering?
At the moment if this happens we can't give you the service hours. If you have any other way of providing proof feel free to write in the additional comments section of the "Reporting NHS Service Hours" google form or provide the email of a trusted source that can verify that you volunteered. If you go with the second option, it's expected you tell this source to contact us.
What if I don't meet the membership requirement by the end of the school year?
This year's membership requirement is at least 8 hours of community service where a max of 3 hours can come from non-NHS sponsored activities. Not meeting this requirement this year means you will have to reapply for membership for the following year.
What are Non-sponsored NHS hours?
This year there is a cap of 3 hours out of the 8 total that can come from Non-Sponsored NHS Activities. Non-sponsored NHS hours are hours accumulated from activities not mentioned on the "Opportunities" tab. For example this could be volunteering at a debate tournament, tutoring a classmate outside of school, and more.
